Obituary for Melvin Dennis Daniel La Pointe

Melvin Dennis Daniel La Pointe
La Pointe - Melvin Dennis Daniel (Mel)

It is with deep sadness that the family of Mel La Pointe announce the passing of our cherished Husband/Father on January 19, 2018 at the Peter Lougheed Hospital at the age of 70 years. After a valiant fight with cancer he was surrounded by his family who stayed by his side until his passing. He leaves behind his wife of 40 years, Delores La Pointe (nee Wilton); his children Shane (Roxy), Shelane (Guy), Devon (Hersie), Alisha (Randy), Michael (Kara), Krystle (Matthew); and grandchildren Rylan, Levi, August, Leah, Chanel and Cassidy. He is survived by his sister Jean Wilson; sisters-in-law, Rita and Jeanette; and niece, Darlene Kinzel. Mel will also be dearly missed by many friends and relatives.

Mel was born in Brooks, Alberta and was an honest, humble and faithful man who believed life should be lived that way by all. He lived most of his life in Calgary, Alberta before moving to Strathmore, Alberta in the year 2000 where he enjoyed the rest of his life.

Life is a journey; Mel's door was always open for anyone who needed anything or especially just to talk. He lived his life well and he always made sure we all had what we needed to succeed in life.

Mel took the long way home, true and narrow. He is home now, with no more pain and agony. Go with the grace of God.

A Celebration of Life is being held at home (280 Cambridge Crescent, Strathmore Alberta) on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to email expressions of sympathy, memories and pictures to delores_avon@hotmail.com with the subject heading: Mel La Pointe.
