January 23, 1920 – May 27, 2016
Rita Plourde passed away on Friday, May 27, 2016 at the age of 96. Rita was born in Eel River Crossing, NB and moved to Kapuskasing, ON as a young girl. She started out as a teacher and then pursued studies to become a social worker. She worked in Sherbrooke, QC for many years with Dr. Lamarre, then moved to Calgary where she worked at the Calgary General Hospital until she retired at the age of 60. Rita was a volunteer at the Kerby Centre for many years, was a member of Les Dames de Ste. Famille Catholic Church and The Women’s Canadian Club of Calgary.
A Memorial Service will be held in Kapuskasing, ON at the Immaculée-Conception Church (4 Summers Avenue, Kapuskasing, ON P5N 1R1) on Friday, June 24, 2016 at 10:30 am.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that any donations be made to any of the 3 listed charities:
The Heart and Stroke Foundation
The Canadian Cancer Society
The Canadian Diabetes Association
