Obituary

Katherine (Katie) Lynne Mollerson
September 09, 1985 Calgary
July 13, 2020 Calgary

Katherine (Katie) Mollerson passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 13, 2020 at the age of 34 years. She is cherished and deeply loved by her parents, Bill and Marlene (Priebe) Mollerson. Katherine is survived by her siblings, Janice (Matt) of Houston TX and Andrew of Calgary. Missing Katherine are her grandparents, Juanita Mollerson of Balfour BC, and Otto and Linda Priebe of Strathmore AB. Katherine has a large extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins in Alberta and BC who will miss her beautiful smile and affectionate hugs. Family was one of Katie’s cherished connections.

Katherine loved spending time with friends and family. She shared an enjoyment of old cars with her Dad, walking at the Zoo and visiting parks, and especially time at our trailer on Kootenay Lake. Katie was an avid photographer and has a large collection of events in her photo history. She has collected a wonderful and detailed narrative of her interactions with loved ones through her pictures.

Katherine has been described as feisty, independent and loyal by those who knew her well. She loved music and collected thousands of songs in her library. Coffee with mom and dad was a special time to be shared. The last cup of coffee in the pot was a prize she enjoyed competing for. Katherine’s routine was to give hugs to everybody when leaving a family event, or when going to bed at night. These hugs are now a cherished memory.

Family was the most important part of Katherine’s life. She often expressed her desire to be part of dinners, outings and celebrations. She wanted to be part of a loving, caring, and accepting environment.

Special people in her life include Karolina and Niyi of CPLF, who developed deep and meaningful relationships with her. They encouraged her to live and enjoy life as she chose. Her friend Brian helped her broaden her life experiences through their shared outings.

Remembering Katherine’s engaging smile and loving hugs will give comfort to all who are missing her. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.

Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Celebration is planned for September if permitted by COVID restrictions. To view and share photos, condolences and memories of Katie, please visit www.choicememorial.com.

Having lived with Katie for a few years, I saw the struggles she had to deal with everyday, but she was still so happy and positive no matter how bad things were. That kind of personality is so rare and very special, I hope we can all learn from her and be grateful for what we have. I'll always remember how much she loved our pets and being outside in the garden. This still doesn't feel real, my condolences to Marlene, Bill and the family.

Katie, you opened our eyes and our hearts because you had a heart of gold 98% of the time. We will miss your hugs and laughter, but can hear you and feel your love for family. Marlene, Bill, Janice and Andrew, there are no words to ease your pain. Just know we loved Katie with every piece of our hearts....Love you all too.

My father, Uncle Guenter, and I send our deepest sympathies on the loss of Katherine. I had the opportunity to get to know Katherine in a personal way over a period of a few years. She would quietly sit close to adults at family gatherings and listen carefully to learn more about family. Katherine showed patience and care in helping me look after my mother at a few functions. A few times we both happened to be at the mall. She gave me big, welcoming smiles. I so enjoyed her ambition to learn a new language. Katherine was so animated
In telling me about her plan. We will miss seeing her with family and at the mall.
