Joan Katherine Rebstock

Joan Katherine Rebstock passed away suddenly on Friday, March 27, 2020 at the age of 66. She was born on August 23, 1953 in Lethbridge, Alberta to Joann and Herbert Donaldson. She was a teacher’s aide and librarian for the Separate School Board until 2014. Joan married Henry Rebstock in 1974 and after retirement, enjoyed more time with family and her pets. She was always popular at the local dog park where every dog came up for a visit and she knew every dog’s name and their life story.

Joan will be missed and forever remembered by her loving husband, Henry; her daughter, Joann Katherine Kozai; her son in law, Hiroki Kozai and her granddaughter, Hana Kozai. She will also be missed by her many friends and dog friends from the McKnight Dog Park. She is predeceased by her mother, Joann and father, Herbert.

A private family Memorial Service and Celebration of Life will take place later.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joan’s memory to Calgary Humane Society

My sincere condolences to you all. I am very sad to hear of Joans death. The world has lost a truely wonderful person. Joan and I worked together at John Paul II in Kindergarten. She was the best. Always supportive, caring, willing to do more than asked always. I loved working with her. Her lovely art work for bulletin boards was used in my classroom until I retired. Joan has always been remembered by me as a heart of gold. That is how I will always remember her. I am blessed because I knew her. May you receive peace and comfort through your memories.

Dear Rebstock family. I was so saddened to hear of Joan’s passing. Please accept my sincere condolences. May God wrap his loving arms around you and comfort you at this time. I met Joan at St Rupert school many years ago and can only say my life is better because of her being in it. She was always such a positive person. She would always go out of her way to help others and loved crafting. She made my set of alphabet puppets out of felt that I still use and remember her fondly of to this day. Hugs. Lina Kind ”

Joan was a kindhearted and thoughtful woman, and I feel privileged to have known her. Whether you were two legged or four legged, there were always treats at the dog park for you. She always remembered every special occasion, and every birthday, and tried to make them special. She will surely be missed by all who knew her. My deepest condolences to Henry and family. Sending love at this sad time. 💜

Joan taught me unconditional love for all living beings, openness to finding friendship everywhere, being serene, seeing what's there, absorbing light and finding laughter all around me. Joan knew how to give. She was tender-hearted, and I'm grateful to claim her as friend, and to have been one of the lucky ones who was blessed to know her.
