Colin Edward Magowan

Colin Edward Magowan was born in Campbell River, BC, on September 18, 1979.

He was a loving son, brother and uncle. He fought a hard-painful battle and passed away peacefully on Friday, October 30, 2020, in Calgary, AB. Colin was an incredible son that was always there for his family when they needed help. He was a huge support for his mother when we lost our father in 2015. Colin was an amazing uncle to his nephews and had an enormous passion for sports. He was always there to watch their hockey and baseball games. The kids loved hanging out with Colin for sleepovers, where they would play video games and watch movies. His passing has left an enormous hole in our family.

His many friends will dearly miss him. He always enjoyed spending time with his friends. Colin loved going on the NFL trips, golfing, camping, going to the lake and being a part of all his friends' extended families. Colin was a brother and son to more than just his immediate family as he had a huge extended family of friends and co-workers. He was a man with a big heart and a large presence in all the lives that he touched. Colin was a fantastic friend who was always there for others in their time of need. He cared for others more than himself. He was a funny man who had a way to make others laugh.

He was a safety professional who worked hard to ensure that his sites were safe for all of those around him. He brought a sense of humour with him and always treated others with respect.

He will be missed forever by his mother, brother, sister-in-law, nephews, dog and his MANY loving friends. We ALL love you, Colin! Thank you to our friends and family for their outpouring love and support during this time.

Colin was a co-worker of mine and truly one of a kind. I have never met anyone who can change the mood of an entire room full of grumpy people with nothing more then a "Heeey buuuddy". His kind heart and big smile are forever etched in my mind. The world lost a good one, I am so sorry for your families loss.

Colin quickly became my first PCL friend when I worked with him as a student at Rocky Ridge in 2015. He was the first PCLer that became family. Our friendship was solidified when I had a small injury at work and fainted in his office. Looking back on this memory puts an ear to ear smile on my face. We were on different sites for a couple years and then ended up back together at the UofL and again at Calgary Cancer Centre. I feel beyond blessed to have been Colin's friend. He was always a safe place whenever you needed a shoulder to cry on, a good laugh or just a bear hug. Colin has been such a positive impact on so many people and was cherished by more than he knew. My thoughts and love are with the Magowan family at this difficult time. Colin, you're in a better place. I like to think you're at the cabin in BC with your dad. You will be loved always and missed forever.

Days have passed since I heard the news of your passing and still I have no words that will convey what a loss this is, and just how sad I feel. I have so many fond memories of our time together through out high school and beyond. Losing such a kind, generous, good human is a true loss to all of us. Rest In Peace. My love and condolences to the Magowan family.

McGoo you're going to be missed, bud. Colin and I lost touch when I moved from Calgary after high school but I'll never forget our friendship. The time spent with you was as good as it gets and friends don't come much more solid than you. So sad to hear of this news but the world you left can rest a little easier knowing you helped make each day brighter. RIP good buddy. Love and condolences to Kev and Mrs. Magowan.
