My Memories of Jack

Jack married my sister nearly 50 years ago when I was about 12 yrs old.  My earliest memories of Jack was when he was in the army.  Tough and rugged, but always smiling.  Tough and rugged, but always loving.  Tough and rugged, but always faithful to those who accepted him for what he was.  Tough and rugged, but always faithful to those who didn't accept him too.  Jack was my rock idol before I knew what a rock idle really was.  When he came to our farm, his first words were: what can I do to help?  His sence of humor was very foriegn to us but I imagine ours was foriegn to him too.  Even so, Jack was the real deal.  Most would say that Jack was not a spiritual person, but can anyone really know what is in a man's heart, especially in the end?  Through my, rather colorful, spiritual journey I have come to know one thing that makes a man good and one that can be relied on; and that is to be the same man on Monday as you were on Sunday.  Jack was all that and more.  Courage is an independant spark from Heaven's bright throne, by which a man's soul stands raised, triumphant, and alone.  Jack was couragious in life and through his struggle with cancer.  Some people saw Jack's humor come out in, what they thought was inappropriate times.  Jack taught me that it was okay to laugh and especially to find reasons to laugh when things were falling apart.  God bless you for that Jack & knowing God as I do, I'm sure He has.
