Obituary for Daryl Owen Sen

Daryl Owen Sen
Daryl Owen Sen
August 30, 1977 - March 10, 2017

Free Spirit. Adventurer. Rogue Scholar. Daryl Owen Sen passed away in Calgary, Alberta at the age of 39 surrounded by the love of his friends and family.

Daryl loved to travel the world and embraced culture, people and street food with equal enthusiasm. His charm and knowledge of useless trivia (guised as intellect) helped him create lifelong friendships everywhere he went. It was easy to love him.

He visited and lived in dozens of countries but the lure of the Rockies, which he considered the most beautiful scenery in the world, always brought him home. Daryl loved the great outdoors and wore sandals in every season - probably to showcase his big, big toes.

He was a chess master that always welcomed his next opponent but his claim to fame was being named after CFCN's Darrel Janz, a tidbit he loved sharing with his namesake just a few months ago.

Polite and mild mannered, Daryl was always quick to offer support and slow to ask for it; he never wanted to inconvenience anyone.

Daryl will be missed by his friends and family in all corners of the world: including Germany, Australia, New Zealand and his beloved India.

His loss will be most heartbreakingly felt at home by his mom and dad, Judy Sen and Surhid Sen; sisters Suzy and Becky; brothers-in-law Jeremy Campbell and Tim Waddell; and his nieces and nephews Kyla, Madisyn, Jacob and Luke who he loved with all his heart and now must go on without the greatest uncle in the world.

At his best, Daryl lived life to the fullest. His family asks that in remembrance of him you find the adventure in your life and someone to share it with.

A Celebration of Daryl's life will be held at Foothills Alliance Church (333 Edgepark Blvd. N.W., Calgary, Alberta) on Thursday, March 16, 2017 at 1:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to a charity that Daryl believed in; the Alberta Adolescent Recovery Centre (AARC).
