Condolence: Oh Dear Bernice. You were always so much fun when I was living in Calgary with Kathy Folkman. We had many happy times with you and the Folkman girls going up to Didsbury and around the parties in town. Then in recent years you were always telephoning me in the mornings with all the news. I shall miss those calls to Sydney, Australia.
Tom and I send our condolences to your family and remember the last time we were in Calgary and the evening we spent together with Bernice.
God Bless Bernice

Condolence: I am Bernice's younger sister and I will miss her so much! The past few days have been recollections of when we were kids. I remember how good she always was to me - I was a gawky shy teenager and she took it upon herself to bring me out of this stage by taking me off the farm to other adventures - like going to football games at McMahon Stadium in Calgary, going to the Stampede, going bowling, tobogganing, shopping and movies. she did all this to get me out of myself, and it worked - to this day I am an avid football fan and become hooked on the NFL when the CFL is over! She wasn't married at the time as were my other sister and brother who had young families and not a great deal of time for me, so she filled that void. When I think of this I hope I remembered to say "thank You!"

Many of you would not know that in her younger days she was an amazing softball pitcher and athlete, and played senior women's fastball in Calgary for many years. I remember being 12 years old, wearing a catcher's mask and glove and having to catch her amazing windmill pitch - I still have the bent, broken fingers to prove it! One day I missed and she hit the old barn door so hard it fell down on the ground - gee our Dad was not happy with us!
These are memories that never go away, no matter how old we are! Bernice, you will really be missed, by all of us. Life was not kind to you, but you made it through and fought the good fight to stay here even if your health was rapidly declining...hope you are having a nice reunion in Heaven with all those who are already there! Think of us, always as we will think of you! God has you in the palm of His hand now and you're safe and all is well! Norma
