Obituary for Lawrence Edward Dunn

Lawrence Edward Dunn
Lawrence Edward Dunn
September 6, 1946 - March 23, 2018

Larry passed away peacefully at Agape Hospice on March 23, 2018 at the age of 71 years, after a four and a half year battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife Mary (nee Bhatia), and his beloved daughters Farah Dunn (Chris Souster) and Nadia Dunn (Dan White). Larry was born in Red Deer and grew up on a farm nearby; he graduated from Lindsay Thurber Composite High School in 1964. He then graduated from the University of Alberta in 1971 with a BSc (Agriculture) in 1968 and a Bachelor of Law (LLB), and was admitted into the Alberta Bar to practice law in 1972. Larry’s legal career was spent as a corporate/oil and gas lawyer with a number of companies in Calgary, including Hudson’s Bay Oil and Gas, Aquitaine/Canterra, NOVA Chemicals and Alliance Pipeline.

Larry loved reading (history, biography and science), gardening, jogging/power walking, watching professional tennis, collecting fine art, and practicing law, but most of all loved life and his family. Larry and his family would like to thank Dr. Daniel Heng and his team at Tom Baker for all their assistance. A special thanks to Dr. Jeremy de Bruyn, Sandra, Major Faye Shail and the rest of the wonderful staff at Agape Hospice. You welcomed our family and gave us a second home. At Larry’s request, there will be no funeral. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial made to The Salvation Army Agape Hospice.

“A little while and I will be gone from among you, whither I cannot tell. From nowhere we came, into nowhere we go. What is Life? It is a flash of a firefly in the night. It is the breath of the buffalo in the winter time. It is the little shadow that runs across the grass and loses itself in the sunset” - Crowfoot, Chief of the Blackfoot Nation.
