Obituary for Elizabeth Joan Crisfield

Elizabeth Joan Crisfield
Elizabeth (Beth) “Bitsing” Crisfield, née Wilkinson
July 8, 1927 - October 24, 2017

Beth was born to English expats Molly and WG Wilkinson in Calgary, AB and spent her early years on the family farm near Midnapore. Her family relocated to Dorval, QC during the Depression and later returned to London, England as WWII began. Beth came back to Canada with her mother and sister after the war, finally settling in Calgary and taking a role as secretary at the Cathedral Church of the Redeemer, where she had been baptized. There she met and married the Reverend Roy Crisfield and began her life as a minister’s wife (and sometime secretary) with stints in the Peace Country of Northern Alberta; Duncan, BC; Lethbridge, AB; and Regina, SK. Beth and Roy retired back to Calgary in 1991. Along the way she and Roy had three children who survive her: Peter (Leslie), Greta (Ian), and Maureen (Jeffrey). Beth is also survived by her grandchildren John, Geoffrey, Robyn, Simon, and Hugh; her niece, Amanda (Wendy); and nephews, Michael (Terry), and Robert (Shirley); and brother-in-law, William. She is predeceased by Roy, her husband of 49 years; her parents Molly (1960) and WG (1952); her sister Marjorie Helen (2006); sister-in-law Dorothy (2013); and nephews, David (1996) and William (2004).

Beth's family wishes especially to thank the staff of Sarcee Carewest who were such fine friends to her in her later years. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, November 10, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Cathedral Church of the Redeemer (604 1 Street SE, Calgary, AB), closing the circle for a remarkable gentlewoman who dedicated her life to serving God and the community. In lieu of flowers please offer a donation to a charity of your choice. To view and share photos, condolences and stories of Beth please visit www.choicememorial.com.
