Obituary for Arthur Hamilton Jordan

Arthur Hamilton Jordan
Arthur Hamilton Jordan
April 19th, 1932 - Friday, June 30th, 2017

It is with great sadness that the family of Arthur Hamilton Jordan announces his passing on Friday, June 30th, 2017, at the age of 85. Art passed away peacefully surrounded by members of his family.

Art will be lovingly remembered by Linda, his wife of 45 years, and his five children: Kevin (Sandy), Richard, Karen, Dana (David), Shane (Shauna). Art will also be fondly remembered by his six grandchildren: Jason, Travis, Jesse, Taylor, Kyler and Rebecca and his great grandchild, Avery, and by his sister, Evelyn. Art was predeceased by his parents, Evelyn and Ernie, and his brothers: Morris and Leonard and by his grandson, Jeremy.

Art worked as a plumber and gas fitter for over 70 years. He started his career in the N.W.T. and had many funny stories about his time there, including the bush flights in and out with Ward Air. He started working for Fawcett Plumbing in Calgary in 1961 before taking over the company in 1974. Although Art called himself “retired” he never really did stop working. He was strong and capable and kind hearted. He helped anyone who needed or asked for his help and to the very best of his abilities, right into his early 80’s. He did not stop.

As a business owner and proud community member Art was extremely active and carried out many roles in the Renfrew Community Association. He coached baseball, tirelessly fund raised, volunteered at hundreds of bingos, organized events, and in his role as President, became very involved in community activism and with city development as it related to his community.

Ever the practical joker, you could always count on Art for a laugh or a smile. He enjoyed life to the fullest; grateful for the gifts he had been given.

In accordance with Art’s wishes, there will be no service. An informal gathering for family and friends will be held on Sunday July 9th, 2017 from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm at the family home.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation (www.heartandstroke.ca).
