Obituary

Steven Nickyforuk
December 28th, 1972 - Sunday, May 31st, 2020

Our Dearest Steve

Steve was that of a soft simple man.

His effervescent smile, his boyish grin.

You could pretty much sum up everything in Steve’s face.

You could watch his eyes light up with warmth, interest, intrigue …

You could see such a glow in his happiness when he showered you with his smile.

He had a genuine shyness, such a boy in a man.

He had an absolute kindness and affection; his heart was pure as was his thoughts.

When he embraced you with his hugs, they were honest and sincere, you knew he was giving of himself freely, there was nothing fake about his caring.

Steve was extremely brilliant, a very smart man, knowledge beyond his years but was never boastful or arrogant of it. He liked hearing or sharing of any conversation, no matter of its content or range, he enjoyed people.

Steve’s journey took him to many blessings, the love and compassion of his mother, the laughs and playfulness of siblings, the bliss of parenthood, by the birth of his precious daughter. The uncompromising love and care of his grandmothers. His lows took him on a journey also, ones that seemed bottomless and deep.

Steve had a fragile spirit and although we can all feel lost and troubled at times in life, Steve seemed to feel that weight more than most, trying to find what his answers were. He seemed entrenched in a search for something none of his family or loved ones could find or cure for him, leaving a sad emptiness that he struggled with as well as his family.

I believe his dreams and desires were that of what we all wish for, to be loved and happy and feel safe. In a very sincere way, I truly hope he felt our love and compassion, and ask his forgiveness as he would ask ours where we failed to show our best potential to his hurts and wounds, and give to him of what we most felt in our hearts.

I believe our biggest blessing of Steve was that he really was an old soul and it could be felt by anyone around him, which gave him I believe his biggest gifts in love if we cared to enjoy with him in it.

Steve, you will truly be missed by all hearts you touched in the warmest and wonderful way you chose to share with us all.

May God share a more than beautifully warm and peaceful place full of love and calm in his kingdom for your soul.

Your dear loving family

So very sorry for the loss of such a fun loving guy. I remember him as Tash’s big brother, but he was a big brother to all of us back then. Big hugs, chess games for days and a love of music. So many good memories to cherish, always loving and caring. Made us girls feel protected, just like a big brother does. I feel honoured to have had him in my life almost daily through my teen years. So much love ❤️
