Smith, Starr-Ella
October 15, 1976 - September 7, 2019

Starr-Ella was born in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario on October 15, 1976 to Gary and Linda Smith. She is the 5th child of what became 10 children. She was right in the middle which made her a great peace maker. Starr-Ella always wanted to be helping people and she was like a second mother to almost all her children's friends. She could make the mood in a room brighten up just by walking in. She had more love for others than she could ever find for herself, but now she’s where no pain or shame or poor self esteem can reach her. She’s free! She did everything she could always to give her kids everything she could. She loved her family more than anything! Whether it was her own kids, siblings, cousins, nieces, nephews, she brought everyone into her gigantic family. Her laugh was infectious, and she was so easy to talk to. You could bring her your pains and sorrows, and she had a way of making them seem so minuscule in the face of love. Everyone who ever knew her will miss her!

Starr-Ella accomplished more in 42 short years with all the struggles she went through then some people do in a lifetime. She always fought for her dreams and her kid’s dreams. She opened Starr-Ella’s Bistro; wrote a poem/ photography book; opened an art gallery, was an incredible photographer, she was lead singer in a band. A beautiful singer/songwriter. She was a woman who couldn’t let injustices sit. She was a fierce advocate for women’s justice and helping children in trouble/danger.

She ran a youth group. Did multiple renovations. She was the best mom 4 crazy kids and a baby could ever have asked for. She was a fantastic chef who's love for cooking shone through every dish. She loved to write poetry and sing and she left her unique taste in music to all of her kids.

She was never judgemental never hateful and she taught us more than we ever realized about loving people and being as understanding as possible. She taught us to always turn the other cheek. She cherished every drawing poem or song her kids would bring her always encouraging to follow their dreams.

Starr-Ella is predeceased by her siblings Stafford Smith (March 17, 1967 - December 12, 2018) and Stratton Philip Smith (September 18, 1985 - July 20, 1999) Starr-Ella beloved mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, niece and friend passed away suddenly and unexpectedly. She will be deeply missed and cherished in the hearts of her partner Roy and her children Paxton, Colton, Maryann, Olivia and Zackery; her parents Gary and Linda, her siblings, and their partners and children: brother Stafford’s children Justin, Carrie and Austen; sister Stacey (John) and children Kirsten, Christian, Crawford and Karisma; sister Stephanie (Steve) and children Dereck, Samantha, Julian, Joshua and Steven; brother Stephen; sister Stelena (Keith) and children Nathan, Ben, Kyle, Teija and Isabella; sister Sarah and Levi and children Aedan and Hunter; brother Stuart and Kaila and children Kaliyah and Tristyn; sister Stryanna and numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles and extended family and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to A Celebration of Life for Starr-Ella at Supernatural Life Centre, 4215C 11th St NE on Thursday, September 19, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. with a reception to follow service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes and donations may be made directly to: Go Fund Me to help the family of her partner and baby and her older 4 kids take care of needs as they are grieving.

“Beautiful Soul”
As the painful reality sinks in, I don't know what to do I fall
to the floor and my heart cries out for you.
The tears stream down my face, as they carry me to your side
I try to gather up the strength to say my last goodbye.
I can't breathe through this pain and can feel a piece of myself break
I will never understand this loss, what a beautiful soul to take
My big sister and best friends, the brightest shining star
I will always look to the sky and know exactly where you are

Something we never ever wanted or thought we would have to do.... We promise to fight for Your beautiful children especially little Zackery... To remind Him of how precious You are and Your LoVe and adoration for Your precious little Baby..... OMG.... Words can't even....... .... Endless tears endless LoVe…..

It’s with a very sad heart I say goodbye
In the here and now
Yesterday we laughed. We cried .
Today I feel alone....empty spaces
Tomorrow I will miss you again and then again.
My sister, my friend.
You left a huge gaping hole that no one else and nothing
can fill.
But now you fly, oh so high you fly.

“I honestly don’t know what life is going to be like now
without her. I never imagined this day really coming and I
just don’t know how to move forward right now in a world
that feels like its lost its sunshine. To lose such an
important part of my life is so hard I just hope I can
somehow make my way through this easier than the last
year has been.” © Colton

Within my reach
I can sense you
an unseen “glass” veil dividing
You on one side and I on the other.
I can feel you but can’t see you.
I can feel you but can’t hear you.
I know you are near
So close but so far away
new dimensions
new journey
How do I let you go?
How do I say goodbye?

Part Of Her In our Heart And Part Of Her In Our Arms
We lost a precious daughter
So unexpectedly
In the divine Providence of God
Who knows of our destiny
Who of times leaves us questioning
God what has happened here
And leaves us with a thread of grace
Through the which our grief to bear
So many circumstances
That God brought into play
She lived a checkered lifestyle
But for her it was His way
But we were happy to witness to
The love she had for God
And a heart for others
With the thought to do them good
Starr-Ella was a special name
She took it well to heart
She would draw a star as an insignia
Which still is a cherished art
Her life a shining example
A personality on the move
When Starr was in your presence
The atmosphere would improve
An indelible impression
Was left on those she met
Just the short time some had with her
Was something they didn't forget
And mothering her specialty
She loved each child dearly
I know she's left a deep impression
And they will miss her severely
Then to birth a newborn
At the age of 42
Was a challenge placed upon her
But she saw that challenge through
We watched as she bestowed upon him
All of her love and charms
Praise God we have part of her in our heart
And part of her in our arms!
Praise You Lord for the Cross
Paving the way for our Resurrection
The price You paid of highest cost
With blood cleansing power of perfection
No longer shall we look at death
To be our real fear monger
You have given us hope through the gift of Salvation
We praise You in awesome wonder!
Love you long for now...praise God we'll see you later on the Son...y...side of life!
Hallelujah what a Saviour!
