Gordon Winters
August 25th, 1929 - Sunday, February 16th, 2020

Dad is now reunited with his beloved Phyllis. He is survived by his brother Stan Winters (Marion), sister Betty Tanner (Dick), Sister-in-law Rose (Tudy), 5 children: Dale (Mary Anne), Donna Leslie, Gary (Michelle), Garth (Jo-Ann), and Rod (Ronda). He was also blessed with 16 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dad was predeceased by his 2 older brothers Tudy (Rose) and Bob (Vera), and 2 sister-in-laws Vera (Bob) and Marion (Stan).

Dad was born at the Calgary General Hospital August 25, 1929. His parents Grace and George Winters raised him in the Langdon area. He took over the family business, Winters Garage, at Langdon Corner when his father passed away in 1950. With many hours of hard work, the service station became very successful and was bought out by the government in 1971 to make way for the twinning of the Trans Canada highway. We all have many stories of living at the corner and the people we met there.

Dad later joined AGT as a mechanic in Calgary, and later transferred to Red Deer where he finished his career. Just before retirement, Dad and Mom purchased a cabin at Sylvan Lake where family and friends spent many happy hours. Through the years they also spent a lot of time on the road with different trailers and motor homes. Later, they sold the property and moved back to Red Deer. After Mom passed he moved back to Calgary, enjoying his time with family and friends.

We would like to thank the amazing staff at the Prince of Peace, Calgary South Health Campus Hospital, and the Southwood Care Centre.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, March 1, 2020 from 1:00 - 4:00 pm at the Prince of Peace Hall (285030 Luther Rose Boulevard NE, Calgary, AB, T1X 1M9).
