Obituary

Mayert, Cole Hudson
June 30th, 1995 - Monday, April 6th, 2020

It is with great sadness that the family of Cole Hudson Mayert announces his sudden passing on Monday, April 6, 2020 at the age of 24. He will be dearly missed by his mother, Lorraine Weir (Jimmy); father, Derrick Mayert (Gisele); his only brother, Spencer Mayert (Jessica); his nephew, Laker and his beloved best friend and partner, Hanna Thai.

Cole grew up surrounded by people who loved him and will miss him dearly. He had some significant accomplishments in his short life including being an outstanding musician of which he created several bands with different music genres, he wrote a lot of his own music and his favourite quote was, “How do you get to Carnegie Hall? Practice man practice!” And that he did! His favourite bands were everything from The Clash, to Classical and his faithful love for Jazz.

He received the Director’s Award from EP Scarlett High School for their music program in his first year of music. Cole graduated from SAIT where he received full Honours as an Electronics Engineering Technician and was to begin his new role in his dream job in this capacity. As a young child was able to connect electronic systems and it came to him naturally.

Cole loved and had a connection to nature and adored going for long hikes in the mountains with his partner Hanna and also had a great love for animals. He loved meditation and was a teacher as well, and he will be deeply missed by his spiritual family at the CFT.

Whatever Cole was drawn to it always involved helping others as that’s where his heart was. One of Cole’s greatest attributes was his ability to make others grow themselves and strive to reach their maximum potential. No matter what he was personally going through he would make sure he had words of encouragement and support for anyone who needed them.

Family was important to Cole and he was a loving son, grandson, uncle and friend. This young man displayed maturity far beyond his years and was always viewed as an old soul. He adored all things nostalgic, retro style stereo systems, retro speakers, VHS players which he would rebuild so they were totally operational. His modesty, humbleness, kindness and understanding were felt by everyone who knew him. Other interests of Cole’s were movies from various genres including Shakespeare to Kubrick to Peckinpah. Only the best of the best.

Cole exhibited remarkable attributes at his young age. His pride of ownership, his maturity beyond his years, the self-confidence, loyalty along with a positive attitude is the recipe for a great person. Cole had the biggest smile and the warmest heart and everyone who knew him would tell you that you couldn’t ask for a better friend. We want everyone to remember that and to cherish the special moments that each and every person had with him as they should be treasured.

In lieu of flowers, the family has set up a Memorial Fund with Go Fund Me to be used for purchasing a bench/or alternate in Fish Creek Park . A place where his friends and family can go, sit and enjoy nature and Cole's spirit. A place to honour his huge heart and soul.
