Andrew (Andy) Dean Johnson
March 10th, 1953 - Thursday, August 8th, 2019

Andy passed away suddenly on August 8, 2019. He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 45 years Margaret (Peggy), his sons Jere (Angie), Dean (Anh), and Matthew (Kahlia), and four grandchildren Henry, Mike, Alicia, and Jocelyn. He also leaves to mourn his brothers John (Irene), Fred (Mitzi), Clyde (Linda), David (Carolyn), and Dennis (Rhonda), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and a large extended family.

Andy is predeceased by his infant grandson Stephen Migas-Johnson, parents David and Edna Johnson, sisters Cindy Begemann and Patricia Long, brother Timmy Johnson, and parents in law Jerry and Verna Strachan.

Andy was a second generation Calgarian. He went to Tuxedo and McDougall Elementary, Connaught and Mount Royal Junior Highs, and finished his schooling at Western Canada High School. He worked many years as an Electrician with CP Rail at the Alyth Yards in Calgary.

Andy enjoyed telling stories of his earlier years growing up in downtown Calgary to both his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed family gatherings at Stanley Park where he spent long hours with friends in his teen years. Another special place for Andy was Waterton National Park, where he frequently visited with his wife and family. Andy will be remembered by many, but most of all he will be remembered for being a loving husband and father who could always be counted on. He was a big kid at heart, and loved a good laugh.

A Celebration of Andy's Life will be held at at King of Glory Church Hall (2640 Rundlelawn Road NE, Calgary, AB) on Saturday, September 28, 2019 from 2:00 - 5:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Diabetes Association would be greatly appreciated.

So very sorry to hear of your sudden loss. In time, strength, hope and peace will come to all. I have great memories of Andy when we were part of the Stanley Park group in our teens. - Dani Barrington (nee Jones)

My uncle Andy got his sister to name me after him and I am so proud and happy. But when people would try and call him Andy I wouldn’t like it and would call him dad

As little kids we use to call him magic because he would always make candy magically appear for us
