"I Was Mugged!"

Ron rented my workshop for a number of years to work on his forklift projects. At that time I had a miniature donkey and two pygmy goats, as well as three dogs. Ron really loved the animals, and he always saved food scraps as treats for them. He would drive up, load up the pockets of his jacket with treats, and then get out and have good visit with the animals. One day he was giving Walter, the donkey his treat, and the goats snuck up behind him and grabbed the treats right out of his pocket. Ron's response was a big laugh, and then he told everyone the story of getting 'mugged' at the workshop.

Ron was especially fond of my dog Angel. When I went out to visit my Mom, ron offered to look after the animals for me. But when I came home, i could not find Angel anywhere. I called Ron, fearing the worst. He gave a big laugh, and said, 'Look in the shed!'. Angel had had puppies while I was away, with Ron as midwife. He really loved those puppies. There was one that was his favorite, and he used to carry it on his knee while he drove the lawn mower - in fact I think that pup was with him the whole time he was out in the shop. I still feel badly that he could not keep it.

Ron was very kind, and he certainly was a big help to me at a time when I was going through a rough patch. He had this funny cowboy wisdom - and a positive saying for just about any occasion. He could fix just about anything and he had the most crazy sense of humour. He was a good man, and I am so sorry about his passing.
