Obituary for William Walter Zaleschuk

Zaleschuk, William (Bill)

William (Bill) Zaleschuk passed away peacefully on the morning of Monday, April 13, 2020, three months after his 87th birthday. He was born in Rosthern, SK on January 12, 1933. He moved to Prince Albert in 1943 before settling in Calgary and getting married to Grace Moody in 1957.

William started off owning and operating his own mechanical shop and gas station in Calgary. He then transitioned to the oil and gas industry where he traveled and worked mostly in northern Alberta, BC and Alaska. William loved to share stories of work and places traveled. He always stayed in close contact with most of his work friends after retirement. He loved fabricating and fixing things as well as the shared love of hockey with his grandson, watching sports, dancing, cooking and working up North.

The most important part of his life was family, whom he loved and cherished. William loved children and always looked forward to visits from his grandchildren and great grandchildren, making sure they got more than their fill of sweets before leaving.

William will be missed and lovingly remembered by his son, James; sister, Annie; grandchildren, Billy, Ben, Crystal, Tammy and Tanya and great grandchildren, Blakely, Parker, Hailey, Hayden and Tegan. He was predeceased by his wife, Grace; parents, John and Juliana Zaleschuk as well as siblings, John, Robert, Alex, Helen, Mary, Nick, George, Demetri, Patricia, Dorthy, Julie, Allen and James (in infancy).

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date, as yet to be determined. Service details to follow. To view and share photos, condolences and memories of Bill, please visit www.choicememorial.com.
