Obituary for Bill Beers

Bill Beers
August 6, 1949 – Three Hills, AB
November 30, 2022 – Calgary, AB

William (Bill) Beers passed away peacefully at home, into the arms of Jesus, after a long illness on Wednesday November 30, 2022, with his wife of 51 years at his side. We were blessed to have had four extra years together, more than the doctors expected.

He is survived by his loving wife Sandi, sister Bev, brother Bob (Evie), nieces Val (Brady), Teresa (Dennis), Vyrlene (Scott) and great nephew Joel and great niece Brittani (Zach), and great great niece Peyton. He is also survived by his godson, Shane.

Bill was born in Three Hills to Winston and Dorothy Beers, while his father was attending Prairie Bible Institute. Bill was loved and spoiled very much by his older sister and brother. He moved around a lot as his father ministered in many churches on the prairies and British Columbia.

Bill attended SAIT and became a journeyman communication electrician and then worked for AGT/Telus most of his career. After retiring, he started his own lawn business, which kept him busy.

Bill and Sandi have been blessed to have many wonderful friends. They travelled all over North America (all 50 states and 9 provinces) either by themselves or having fellow RVing friends join them. They camped almost every weekend in Radium for many years and then have spent over 20 years camping in their RV at Gleniffer Lake. Playing many a competitive card game, gals vs guys was an almost weekly occurrence.

Bill loved: God, family, Patches (our fur baby), friends, Southern Gospel Music, RVing, woodworking, volunteering, meeting new friends, and most sports, especially NFL, NHL and curling.

Bill was involved for more than 10 years as a leader with Christian Service Brigade, volunteered with Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes at Samaritan’s Purse, was in charge of the Telus vendor program that used proceeds to help families with food and gifts at Christmas.

Thanks to our many friends and neighbors who have supported us through this journey, whether shopping for us during the pandemic, frequent telephone calls or text messages, and dropping off of meals.

Thanks to nurses and doctors at Foothills Hospital Hepatology Clinic and the wonderful nurses in DI and Day Medicine at Rockyview Day Medicine and the palliative care team.

There will be a Celebration of Life in the summer of 2023 for family and close friends.

For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. John 3: 16 RSV

If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Bill’s name to Samaritan’s Purse , Shipping for Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes, Samaritan’s Purse: 20 Hopewell Way NE, Calgary, AB T3J 5H5 or The Calgary Food Bank 5000 11 St. SE, Calgary, AB T2H 2Y5 or by telephone at 403-253-2059.
