Wilbur James Everett Pomeroy, the youngest of eleven children (7 boys and 4 girls) was born to Mary Margaret (nee Nickle) and Norman Pomeroy on January 22, 1928 in Grey, Saskatchewan. He was raised on the family farm and received his initial education in Grey Saskatchewan until the end of Grade 11 and Grade 12 at Scott Collegiate High School in Regina in 1946.
Jim worked for CPR and CNR shovelling snow until March 1947 when he joined the RCMP. He arrived in Calgary in 1948 and knew this is where he wanted to call home. His postings included Drumheller, Gleichen, Bassano, Calgary, Spirit River and Brooks. Jim retired as Sergeant after 24 years with the RCMP to join AGT (Telus) as a Corporate investigator. He retired from his second career in 1987.

While in Spirit River he attained his pilot license flying a Single Engine Trainer. He was Master of the Masonic Lodge there and was the Treasurer of the Fish and Game Association. With his influence the elk were repopulated to Spirit River from Banff during his time there. An accomplished outdoorsman, Jim’s hobbies included fishing & hunting. His trophies consisted of a second prize trophy ram, and a 32-bar pheasant. Other hobbies included golf and travel. Friendships were also important to Jim and was a part of ‘The Three Musketeers’ Cid Coates, Mickey Clarke and himself playing pranks on one another.

In 1952 Jim married Patricia Rogowski and had 3 children Allan, Glenn and Terry. Family time included camping, fishing and travel to relatives across western Canada. He was always there for his friends and family.
In 1988 Jim married Lorraine (Jenkins) L’Heureux. Lorraine who was #1 on his Hit Parade, predeceased him June 16, 2017. They were snowbirds, spending six months in San Diego and six months in Calgary each year upon their retirement. In later life, Jim & Lorraine were fortunate to have the Jenkins family especially their niece Seonaid for support and care. (thank you Seonaid!)

During his marriage to Lorraine they travelled the world. Western Europe, Australia, Hawaii, Africa, NZ, China, Japan, Asia, Far and Near East, and Russia.

He was able to leave a note on the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem asking to become a millionaire.
Jim and Lorraine worked for the Horse Industry Branch Drug testing at Spruce Meadow Horse Shows, the Stampede, and other competitions throughout the Province rubbing shoulders with Olympic level competitors.

Among a large and extended family, Jim leaves behind his sons Allan (Laura), Glenn (Alison), Terry (Lhea), seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren, (Jenkins) nieces Seonaid, Maureen, Colleen, Tammy and nephew Floyd.
