Obituary for Waldo Michael Noel Hindle

Waldo Hindle

Waldo Hindle was born in Kandy, Ceylon, Sri Lanka and died peacefully on Thursday, March 25, 2021 at the Rockyview Hospital in Calgary, AB. Born the youngest of 6, he came to Canada at the age of 20 to learn about agriculture and work on a Dairy Farm. Waldo was supported to continue his education at the University of Waterloo where he became a teacher. Until retirement, Waldo taught Geography for 31 years throughout the Ottawa area. He found particular joy in coaching both boys and girls volleyball during his career.

In retirement, Waldo enjoyed being a greeter and volunteering at the YMCA in South Calgary. The very kindest of men, Waldo enjoyed helping anyone in need and was always happy to do so. Waldo is survived by his wife, Ruth of Calgary; son, Michael and family in Vancouver; daughter, Moselle in Texas, and nephew, Christopher in Ottawa. He has many extended family members around the globe including Sri Lanka, Australia, the UK and Colorado and Wyoming in the US. Locally, he will be missed by his stepchildren, Lisa and Michael and his family.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Waldo’s memory to The Heart and Stroke Foundation. To view and share photos, condolences and memories of Waldo, please visit www.choicememorial.com.
