Obituary for Virginia Anne Anderton (Lyndon)

Virginia Anne Anderton (nee Lyndon) passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 14, 2020 after a short and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born to Mervyn and Patricia Lyndon in Winnipeg, Manitoba on March 08, 1953 and grew up in Stonewall, Manitoba. Virginia was predeceased by her both her parents and her sister Tracy Roth.

Virginia married her best friend and loving husband James Anderton in Abbotsford BC on June 16, 1972 and they spent 48 wonderful years living life to the fullest. Together they had 4 children Nicole (Tim) Clark, Darryl (Shauna) Anderton, Ryan (Stacey) Anderton, Jamie (Andrew) Roach. Her grandchildren loved every moment that they got to spend with her and will miss her forever: Therin, Alyssa, Abigail, Barak, Brendan, Ashton, Ryleigh, Amelia and Liam.

Virginia leaves behind her step mom Joyce Lyndon, brother Randy (Denise) Lyndon, sisters Carla (Bob) Soltis, Sherri (Herb) Campbell , brother in law Roy Roth and in-laws Shaun (Michelle) Anderton Tracey Anderton. She will be missed by all her Siblings, Her Nephews and Nieces : Jeff, Sheila (Jamie), Jeremy, Katie, Shayla, Brailin.

In Virginia’s final days she took joy in looking back at pictures of her siblings, life growing up and with the biggest smile said “I remember that picture” and went on to share the story of playing out at Auntie Glen and Uncle Art’s farm with her siblings.

In 1986 after raising their family in Abbotsford BC Virginia and Jim moved the family across the country to rural Ontario settling outside Merrickville, ON. The first day the children got their bikes off the moving truck on the dirt country roads Virginia laughingly warned the kids “Be careful of the big trucks”….. there was no traffic at all…. Quite a change from the city living they had all grown up in. Virginia’s passion in life for sewing and crafting for her family lead her to work for over 30 years at Michael Rowland Leather in Merrickville, ON as a seamstress and she truly loved her job. Virginia and Jim made a life changing decision in early 2019 and moved to Airdrie AB. They were just beginning to settle at a church and in the community when the COVID 19 Pandemic hit. They loved their walks and spent every day walking around the pond close to their home. Her friends were numerous in BC, Alberta, Ontario and even in the United Kingdom. They will all miss her.

Virginia went into the hospital on Sep 14, 2020 and spent mornings with Nicole watching the sunrise from her fifth floor room. She cherished the beauty of those sun rises and had her bed moved so she could see them. Virginia’s favourite bible verses were the beatitudes Matthew 5:1-12. This was just one of the many sunrises Virginia enjoyed. Our wife, mom, grandma, sister, auntie and friend will be missed. She may be gone but will never be forgotten!
