It is with great sadness, that we announce the passing of Valerie at the age of 76.
Survived by her loving husband of 53 years. She is also survived by her sister, Carol (Alex); her sisters in-law Cheryl and Eva and her brother in-law Barry; nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was predeceased by her father and mother George and Nellie Arbuckle and brothers Scott and Glen.
Val, Carol, and their Mother Nellie left England to meet up with her father in Halifax, they arrived in Halifax December 23, 1951. They resided in Cape Breton until October 1959 and then relocated to Calgary Alberta where she met her lifelong friend Florence and remained the best of friends for 66 years.
Val met Dwight, the love of her life in 1965 and were married August 2, 1969.
Val was an extremely talented seamstress and she designed many of her creations herself and even designed her own wedding dress.
Shortly after Dwight and Val were married, she started working for Merrill Lynch Stock Brokerages, she stayed on for 17 years. After that she decided she would work at something she loved, she took a job at a material store. Almost every night she would come home with a bag full of material at wholesale. She would often say It’s like an alcoholic working in a liquor store.
We would like to thank the nurses and doctors at Rocky View General Hospital, Unit 56 and AgeCare Skypointe for their care and kindness given to Val.
Val and Dwight always loved being surrounded by friends at many parties they hosted.
