Obituary for Thomas William Kryschuk

Thomas William Kryschuk

It is with great sadness we announce that Tom passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, January 31, 2021 after a 13-month battle with cancer.

Tom was born on October 12, 1948 in Tisdale, Saskatchewan. Growing up, Tom loved to fish, play hockey, and most of all, play baseball. Baseball was one of his biggest passions that carried through life with him. Tom played short stop and pitcher year after year until sadly having to retire at the young age of 55 due to a sports injury. He always missed playing ball.

He enjoyed spending time outside: camping, star gazing and working around the yard. As he got older, he became a bit of a snowbird and enjoyed tropical vacations during the cold Calgary Winters. Most of all, Tom loved watching (and maybe yelling and swearing, depending on how the game was going) the flames play, with a beer in hand.

People who knew Tom, know that he loved his family fiercely. He was a loving and compassionate husband. A caring father. Tom always had time for his family. Through good times and hard times, Dad was always there. He had a mischievous side - if you seen that smile, you knew he was up to something. It could have been a Dad joke, some of his silly dance moves or one of his classic funny faces. Making his family happy, made him happy.

Tom liked to think of himself as “bad to the bone” but we all knew he was really just a big softie. Especially with his grandson, Kruze. Taking care and helping raise his "little buddy" was his greatest accomplishment.

Tom will be missed dearly, and forever loved.
