Teressa Oliinik
July 5th, 1940 - Wednesday, August 14th, 2019
From her early days, up until the last breath, Teressa had envisioned a world which is better than the one she had been handed down and ended up with. Her life started during the WWII and deportations, as the famous tyrants of the 20th century (i.e. Hitler and Stalin) executed their plans to divide Eastern Europe and dared to exercise wickedness. Rebuilding life from scratch over and over again, ensuring underground resistance to the communist repressions and human rights violations; being there for absolutely anyone in need as a nurse and a healer, during work and in any hour; caring for the ill and misfortunate who had lost their hope; searching for cures beyond standard medicine; doing the impossible for her kids… She lived by the standard of staying a child worthy of God’s Grace and acting with humility of the Virgin Mary. Her life ended before her time, but her life-long yearning and dedicated action never changed. She so wanted a world in which: The people with authority/in power do not misuse it to hurt the weaker; the medical professionals care to heal instead of managing work files; the spiritual leaders inspire and mend the wounded souls so that they become wholesome again; the adults retain the purity of children’s hearts with which they had been endowed from the start, and that everyone dares to ask the question: “Have I finished this day in loyalty to the best of human conscientiousness?” Her vision of compassion and eternal love can be summarized like this: “U” could be “I”, and I could be You. If you believe in me, I will believe in you. The You and I could be patients and doctors, sinners and saints, students and teachers, psychos and victims, servants and lords… In the memory of Teressa Oliinik, may all achieve a world in which all of the above calls for a celebration of eternal life and love!
