Our dear mother and grandmother, Shu Wen Wang, was born in Hebei on January 3, 1932. She spent most of her life in China working as a doctor. With Qun Zhi Ao, her husband of over sixty years, she started a family and raised four children: Jing, Quan, Li, and Pearl. In her later years, she travelled between Canada and China visiting her grandchildren: Ran-Ran, Wei-Wei, Jesse, Catherine, and Nina.

We remember her as a loving woman who always cherished time with loved ones. She would spend hours reminiscing with old photos of family and friends both here and abroad. She always intended on making a trip back home to visit China and spoke of what she planned to do when she returned.

As a mother she was a role model who taught us the importance of staying truthful and being kind and generous with others. As a grandmother, she was a caretaker, a storyteller, and an amazing cook. She gave us her total and unconditional love. Her final wish was for the health, happiness, and prosperity of her family.

We love you and will fondly remember our time with you. Rest in peace until we meet again.

Although many friends and family cannot be with us for the funeral, we would like to give our heartfelt thanks for their support during this difficult time. We know (grand)ma would have treasured your kindness.

Mom stayed in the hospital for 13 days. I felt that mom purposely wanted to give us the time to say goodby and to prepare us for the last chapter of her life.

Mom was quite famous among my friends and colleagues because of her yummy dumplings, Chinese buns and of course her home made pancakes. I’m so glad that I had a chance to share with my colleagues recently at a company virtual function about mom. I told them mom was my role model. She always told me to be kind and truthful to others and to yourself. Mom taught me so many important and valuable things in life. Without mom, I wouldn’t be the person I am today.

Mom, thank you for giving us life, raising us, taking care of us, loving us. You are not leaving us, but will always always live in our hearts forever.
