Obituary for Sherrie Lee Wattie

Wattie, Sherrie Lee
January 18, 1960 – June 24, 2022

Sherrie Lee Wattie was called home on Friday, June 24, 2022, to be with Jesus. She passed peacefully with her family by her side.

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” (2Timothy 4:7)

Sherrie was the loving wife of Michael Wattie; mother to Joshua Wattie (Terri), Trevor Wattie (Erin) and Diana Meehan (Kyle); proud Grandma to Brooke Meehan; daughter of Donna and the late Fred Schimpf; sister of Kerry, Kevin (Leisa), and Kelly (Barb) Schimpf. She will be dearly missed by her extended family and friends.

“But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in Him.” (Jeremiah 17:7)

Sherrie was born in Calgary, AB and grew up in the community of Wildwood. She met the love of her life, Mike, during grade 10 at Ernest Manning High School in 1976. They have been married for over 40 years. They ran a successful financial planning practice together and built a beautiful life, grounded in their faith, and surrounded by their loving children and grandchild.

“Jesus Christ, my living hope.”

Sherrie was known for the kind and caring manner in which she lived her life. She was a natural peacekeeper and was always calm and collected. She had an infectious laugh and a smile that could light up the room. Sherrie’s passion was always loving and caring for her family. She loved spending her free time at their property in Wardner, British Columbia. She loved gardening and tending to her flowers. She has an aptitude for design and making any space warm and welcoming.

“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.” (Matthew 5:8)

The family would like to thank all the staff that looked after Sherrie at Dulcina Hospice for their kindness, care and compassion that was shown to both Sherrie, Mike and their family. We would also like to thank her oncology team at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre, especially Dr. Tam, for his care throughout her illness.

Sherrie will be forever loved, and her memory will live on forever.

“The only scars in Heaven are on the hands that hold you now.”

A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at 1:30 pm at the Centre Street Church (Main Campus, 3900 2 St NE, Calgary, AB). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sherrie’s honour to Centre Street Church.
