Obituary for Shelagh Maureen Buchmann (Keane)

Shelagh Maureen Buchmann, 57, of Calgary, Alberta, passed away on Tuesday, November 8, 2022, after a long battle with cancer. Shelagh was born on January 26, 1965, to Brian and Jacqueline Keane in Prince Rupert, British Columbia. At a young age, Shelagh’s family moved to the Village of Warfield, British Columbia, where she grew up.

After graduating from High School, Shelagh went on to study Nursing at the Vancouver General Hospital School of Nursing. Shelagh then went on to obtain a Baccalaureate of Science in Nursing from the University of Victoria. After graduation, Shelagh worked for many years as a Public Health Nurse in British Columbia, and later in Alberta.

Shelagh was a proud Nurse, often fiercely advocating for her clients. She was committed to her career and was promoted many times due to her hard work and dedication.

In 1992, Shelagh met her husband, Oliver Buchmann, and they were married in Vancouver on May 28, 1994. Shelagh and Oliver had one child, Alexander, who was born on December 12, 1996.

Shelagh loved to travel and to spend time with her family, as well as her sweet cat Sarah. She loved fine food, and you could always count on her to partake in a glass of wine with you.

We know that Shelagh is enveloped by the love of her husband, Oliver; son, Alexander; and her sister, Colleen; as well as her parents, Jacqueline and Brian, who passed before her.

In Shelagh’s honour, please consider a donation to the Tom Baker Cancer Centre in lieu of flowers. To view and share photos, condolences and memories of Shelagh, please visit www.choicememorial.com.
