Obituary for Sean Michael Amstutz

Sean Michael Amstutz, beloved son of Harold and Lori Amstutz (nee Friesen), of Calgary, AB passed away on Tuesday, December 26, 2023 in his home in Calgary, Alberta.

Sean was born in Calgary on March 30, 1985. His family moved to Big Lake, Minnesota in 1993 when he was 8 years old. His father’s employment brought them to spend the next 14 years living in the United States. Sean graduated from High School while living in Big Lake, Minnesota in 2003. The family moved to Vancouver, Washington in 2004 where he would spend the next 3 ½ years living in Washington. They all returned to Calgary in 2007.

Sean held various jobs after his return to Canada but spent most of his working career with DHL. He enjoyed the solitary job description as he preferred to keep to himself. Despite that, he was greatly admired and appreciated by his peers.

He also enjoyed an active online life where he loved to share his time and talents with many. He was part of a growing Twitch community, and for a time was posting regularly to his own YouTube channel where he has gifted the world with a sample of his amazing talents.

Sean will best be remembered by his gentle and loving disposition, and his musical abilities. He loved to play piano. He started learning at the age of 4 and carried his love of playing throughout all his years. He exceled at playing the piano due to his ability to pick up any tune and play it with his own embellishments, enhancing it and improving on it as he did so.

He enjoyed acting and he also loved to sing. He was able to participate in various small theatrical productions throughout his adult years.

Sean is survived by his mother, Lori Anne Amstutz (nee Friesen); sister, Tammy Lorraine Amstutz; brother, Kenton David Amstutz; nephew, Barrett Daniel King, son of Tammy (John King) Amstutz; grandfather, Kenneth Amstutz (May); aunt, Marguerite Watmough (Darren) and their 2 sons, Daniel Watmough and Nicholas Watmough all residing in Calgary, and his grandmother, Anne Friesen (nee Rempel), residing in Calgary as well. He was predeceased by his father, Harold who passed away on December 4, 2022.

A private viewing was held in honour of Sean for family and close friends on Sunday, December 31, 2023 at: Choice Memorial (McKnight Location) 105-4715 13th Street NE, Calgary, AB.
