Obituary for Scott Edward Douglas

Scott Douglas
March 25th, 1960 - Saturday, January 18th, 2020

It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of my husband and best friend of 30 years, Scott Douglas at the age of 59.

Scott is survived by; his wife Pamela, mother Florence, sister Cheryl (Glen), brother Duane (Lisa), father-in-law Ernie, brother-in-law Ronnie (Michelle) and numerous nieces and nephews, Kurtis (Dimity), Nigel (Emma), Justin, Connor, Kayleen, Wyatt and one great nephew Jacob. Scott was predeceased by his father Ted in 2016.

Scott was born in Winnipeg, MB and moved several times with his family following his Dad’s career in the oil & gas sector, landing in Calgary in 1972.

Scott loved to be outside and enjoyed many sports and activities such as gardening, cycling, softball, golf and his particular passion hockey.

In his free time Scotty loved to spend time with his friends and family both two and four legged. Anyone who knew Scott knew how much his dogs, or “furry buddies” as he referred to them, meant to him. Scotty was a private, humble and loyal friend who will be missed greatly by the people whose lives he touched.

Scotty spent his entire adult career working in the oil patch – his absolute love. He was a Production Engineering Technologist graduate of SAIT and held various positions for companies such as Enerplus, Pengrowth and Harvest. One of Scotty’s favorite things to do was to mentor new talent entering the industry; he loved to share his knowledge. This spoke to the kindness and compassion of how he treated those around him.

I would like to thank the following people for their support during this emotional time; the wonderful doctors and nursing staff, in all of the departments, who helped Scott to the best of their abilities, demonstrating care and compassion (especially Sara in ICU Pod A, who was with us at the end and treated Scotty and I with such kindness and respect), his sister Cheryl who made the journey from Australia to spend time with her brother, my friend Carlos who spent countless hours at the hospital just case I needed anything and for emotional support, Don who sat with Scott when I had to run errands, Christina, my rock who stayed with me to the end and helped me make all the necessary arrangements, my friend Sandra who took the time to help me write and organize these difficult words and all of his friends and team mates who took the time out of their busy schedules to come and visit Scotty.

In lieu of a funeral for Scotty a Celebration of Life will be held sometime in March 2020 around his 60th birthday. To access the date and place for the memorial please go to:
