April 7, 1964 - June 9, 2022
Sandra Dunn passed away on Thursday, June 9, 2022, surrounded by family, after an abrupt and difficult battle with lung cancer. She is survived by her mother, many brothers and sisters, and daughter, Raylene. Sandra was born the sixth of eight children to Jim and Jean Mah in Drumheller, Alberta. She had a rambunctious childhood with her brothers and sisters, fueled by small-town life and limited parental supervision.
Sandra began to greatly enjoy her independent lifestyle when she came to Calgary as a highschooler. She continued on with schooling and worked as a stylish hairdresser before deciding on a career in nursing. After becoming an RN at the Foothills Hospital, she began to build a stable life and family.
Her daughter Raylene was born in 1995, and Sandra’s life mission became supporting her child’s interests and gathering new experiences together. During this time, she settled into her own hobbies of gardening and running. Both of which she took head-on – always determined to go an extra mile or pull every weed in sight.
Despite being content to stay at home, she immensely enjoyed traveling Europe and North America. The dream of future travels kept her inspired to always learn about arts, politics, and history. Her caring and fun-loving soul will be forever remembered by her dear friends and family. She made countless connections during her decades working as a nurse at Foothills, where she was cherished for her kind nature and caring advice.
