Obituary for Sabina Maria Vas (Demello)
Sabina Vas
August 29th, 1954 – September 8th, 2019
It is with great sadness we announce that Sabina, beloved wife of Leo Vas of Calgary, AB, passed away on Sunday September 8th, 2019 at the age of 65 years at Agape Hospice, a place of peace and tranquility. Her rest comes after enduring much suffering through her various health complications over the years.
Sabina was born August 29th, 1954 in Dar es Salaam Tanzania to Zachary and Libania Demello. Sabina married Leo on June 13th, 1988 in Edmonton, AB. Sabina was a loving wife and mother who dedicated 7 years of her career life to be able to raise her children at home. Sabina was known to be a kind generous individual with much trust and integrity. Additionally, she was well known in her community to be a phenomenal cook and she catered many events. In her career life she worked for the Bank of America, Royal Bank, and the University of Calgary. She was known for being professional, hardworking, and having high organizational skills. Sabina excelled well in her crafts, sewing, arts, and woodworking which continued even in her later years.
Besides her loving husband, Sabina is survived by her siblings, Cyril (Martina) Demello, Casmira Demello, Stephen (Fatima) Demello, her children, Scott and Stephanie, and her nephews, Conrad (Ruella) Demello, Ryan (Annie) Demello, and Zack Demello.
The Vas family would like to thank all those who assisted in the care of Sabina throughout the years.
Funeral Services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, West Stake Centre (6560 Silver Springs Crescent NW), on Thursday September 12, 2019 at 11:00 am. A Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
