Obituary for Russ Lamoureux

Russell (Russ) Donald Lamoureux was born on January 8, 1928 in Clarkleigh, Manitoba to Yvonne and Joseph Lamoureux. Russ was the third oldest of nine children, Oscar, Tony, Florence, Alec, Annette, Laura, Raymond and Jules.
Russ is survived by his sons, Dennis (Rose), Randy (Laura), and Howard (Mary); daughter, Laureen; grandchildren, Candice, Catrine, Caralee, Randi, Daniel, Brittany, Jessica, Michael, Dwight, Matthew, Mark, Lindsey, Jacqueline, Brianne, Casie, Grady, Shaye, and Mason; as well as great grandchildren, Paige, Brooklynn, Cordelia, Mateya, Jack, Presley, Lexis and Liv. Russ was predeceased by his loving wife, Lilja of 50 years in 2002; a son, Daniel in 2019; and a daughter, Linda in 1991.
In 1965, Russ with Lilja and the three younger children moved to Calgary. The two older sons remained in Winnipeg to finish the school year. Russ was hired as a carpenter to work on the construction of the Calgary Tower formerly known as The Husky Tower and on numerous construction sites throughout his working life. He loved to build and restore furniture.
As a young boy and throughout his adult life, Russ enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling and playing baseball as a shortstop on a local team. He liked to square dance and tried playing the fiddle. Russ loved the outdoors, always taking the family out for picnics on summer weekends. For the past 20 years, Russ lived with his daughter, Laureen and three grandsons. At the age of 95, he passed away peacefully at home under the loving care of his family and AHS Home Care professionals.
Russ will be fondly remembered as a hard worker, family man, and a goofy guy who loved to laugh, joke and tell stories. He captured the imagination of the young and old.
Russ will be missed here on earth and now reunited with his loved ones in Heaven.
MISS ME – BUT LET ME GO
When I come to the end of the road
and the sun has set for me, I want no rites in a gloom-filled room.
I want no fuss or big service. Why cry for a soul set free?
Miss me a little–but not too long and not with your head bowed low.
Remember the love. Miss me–but let me go.
For this is a journey that we all must take and each must go alone.
It’s all a part of the Master’s plan. A step on the road to home.
When you are lonely and sick of heart go to the family and friends we know.
Bury your sorrows in doing good deeds and living your life.
Miss Me – But Let me Go!
