Obituary for Rosina Marie van Rossum

van Rossum, Rose-Marie
November 25, 1954-December 17, 2019

Rose passed away suddenly at home. Rose-Marie van Rossum was born in Antigonish, Nova Scotia from Dutch Immigrant parents Elizabeth and Dick van Rossum. She and her twin brother were the eldest of 8 siblings. Rose left home at 18 and moved around to various parts of Canada. She settled in Calgary, Alberta in 1979. Rose made a career in the banking industry for several years. She cared deeply about people and had a special connection with the elderly. She found community at the Royal Canadian Legion, where she became passionate about veterans and volunteered for the Poppy Fund Drive.

Rose had the ability to bring warmth and a smile to people’s hearts. She had a love for music, reading, animals and beautiful things. Her favorite place was in the sun in Drumheller with her chow, Samson and with good friends.

She is survived by her seven siblings, John (twin), Brenda, Phonse (Debbie), Clem (Donna), Monique, Jim (Audrey), Marlie and, Neil; her daughter, Lisa; her long-time partner, Al; numerous nieces and nephews; former sisters in law, Bernadette and Kim and Lisa's father, Maurice. Rose was truly an everyday angel.

She is much loved and will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to a charity of choice or pay forward with kindness.
