Our hearts are broken to announce the passing of our dearly beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother Ronald (Ron) Savage who passed away in Calgary in the early morning of December 4, 2022. He fought hard to stay with us but God wanted him more. He leaves to cherish him, Candice, his wife of 43 years; his sons, Jason his wife Connie and their children Kyle and Jade; Michael, his girlfriend Kara and Michael's children, Morgan and Taylor and their mother, Andrea; Steven, his son, Tristen and his mother, Rhonda. Also left to mourn Ron's passing are his brother, Robert (wife Dorothy deceased); sister, Patricia and husband, Franz Plangger of Ottawa; sister, Jacqueline and husband, David LaBossiere of Winnipeg; brother, Paul and wife, Nicole of Quebec as well as many nieces and nephews. Ron was predeceased by his parents and his lifelong friend, Rene Despatis.

Ron was born and raised in St Boniface, Manitoba and graduated from the U of M Bachelor of Commerce program in 1968 and Fellow of the Institute of Canadian Bankers, U of M program.

Ron became Branch Manager at CIBC at the age of 22 the youngest manager in Manitoba at the time. He had 4 years with the CIBC as Branch Manger; 2.5 years with the Mercantile for real estate lending, bridge financing and land development loans; 3 years as Manager of Land Development for Qualico; 3 years as General Manager Sterling Homes Edmonton, division of Qualico building single family houses to assembling Waters Edge high rise on Saskatchewan Drive; 6 months as Director of US Acquisitions for Qualico based in Houston, Texas with a mandate to acquire properties for commercial development; 9 years as founding partner in Real Property Painting and Contracting with annual volume of over 3.5 million per year, selling the company to operate Real Property Consultants, preparing feasibility reports for builders, lenders and land developers. At the Mercantile bank he wrote a position paper that was accepted as policy by the Bank on loans to non-taxable organizations.

Ron was General Manager for 6 years of Ravenwood Homes then for 10 years was Owner/President of Gem Homes, a new homebuilder in Edmonton. Before retirement Ron was the owner of Real Property Consultants working with Daon Property Corporation, acting as Vice President of Land Development for a major residential development in Ft. McMurray.

He was a fighter, who was positive and embraced life. He was compassionate, generous, honest and fair.

Ron had 2 passions in life, building and family. He designed and built our Mexican home in 2010 which became our piece of paradise, where he was happy spending 6 months of the year. Nothing brought him more joy than being with his siblings, sons and grandchildren. His passion for building led him to making an outdoor bar for our Calgary home where sitting there or around the outdoor fireplace, listening to music, brought him great pleasure. Music was his other love, which he liked to play very loudly.

Although Ron was an intensely private man, his sense of humor and witty comments brought everyone joy while sitting on our decks or at the kitchen table. Ron cherished the reunions he had with his family in August and early October. He was fortunate to have them visit him once he was hospitalized. Along with his wife, Ron wished to thank all the nurses, assistant health care person and doctors on Unit 57 Services Foothills Hospital for their excellent caring of Ron in his last few days. Also special thanks to Dr. Zepeda and Dr. Geddes for never giving up on Ron.

Ron was, and always will be, our fearless warrior. He is greatly missed.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Myeloma Canada.
