Robert Ypma
June 16, 1979 – October 7, 2020
Robert Ypma passed away on Wednesday, October 7, 2020 in Calgary, AB at the age of 41 years.
Rob was born in Westlock, AB and raised in Lacombe, AB. He attended SAIT for his Journeyman HVAC ticket and the University of Lethbridge for his Undergraduate degree in Management. He found his vocational passion working in corporate training at Cenovus Energy.
He loved anything where he could build relationships and particularly enjoyed fishing, sailing, skiing and biking. He also was an avid reader and particularly enjoyed Sci Fi books. Rob’s happy place was Yellow Point Lodge on Vancouver Island. Nothing, however, could compare to his love for his children, of whom he was incredibly proud.
Rob will be missed and lovingly remembered by his wife, Whitney; children, James and Claire; mother, Jannie Ypma; brother, Dave Ypma and his wife, Lori and their children, Katelyn, Jonathan and Michael; the Lowden family, Blake Sr., Nancy, Blake Jr., Denise and Ellie; as well as numerous extended family members and friends. He was predeceased by his father, Peter Ypma.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rob’s memory to Calgary Health Trust.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at 1:30 pm at the Bethany Chapel by invitation only (due to Covid restrictions). For those wishing to participate, Rob’s service will be live streamed from the Bethany Chapel website at www.bethanychapel.com.
