Robert 'Bob' Wort
April 26, 1940 - March 10, 2021
It is with profound sadness that the family of Robert ‘Bob’ Joseph Wort announces his passing on Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at the age of 80 years old after a short battle with cancer. Bob will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 59 years, Maureen Anne Wort (nee O’Brien); children Linda (David), John (Jenny), Matthew (Jody), and Andrew (Kat), as well as his two grandchildren, Torin (Ryan) and Charlie; sister, Janet (Brian); nieces, Kerry, Meila, and nephew Paul. Bob was predeceased by his in-laws, Ken and Elsie O’Brien who welcomed him into their life.
Bob was born April 26, 1940 in Portmore, England to Ernest Frank Wort and Winnifred Dorothy Wort (nee Southey). He grew up in and around Lymington, UK. until moving to Jersey, Channel Islands in 1962 where he met his wife. Bob and his family immigrated to Canada in 1976, settling in Calgary, Alberta.
Bob was a master carpenter and joiner who found great joy in his family, fishing, hunting, and being in nature, especially walking in Fish Creek. Bob loved literature and took great pride in building and working in his workshop.
Bob was a larger than life character, not only in stature but also in the humour and joy he brought to each day and the people around him. He was a generous, sweet, funny and kind man. Gifted in wood working, he donated his skills and time to many people and never asked for anything in return. We will miss creating new memories with him, but we are thankful he is at peace.
No funeral will be held.
