November 5, 1939 - January 9, 2023
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, and grandfather Robert (Bob) Elmer Orr on January 9, 2023 after a fierce battle with Parkinsons Disease.
Bob was born in Suffield, Alberta to Jack and Nellie Orr, as the 4th of 6 children. He moved to Vancouver for several years before moving to Calgary where he met the love of his life Evalyn, to who he was married for 56 years at the time of his passing. They settled in Calgary to start their family and had two children, Grant and Shawna.
Bob’s greatest joy was his family, and he loved to take them to enjoy the outdoors. A country boy at heart, he often took his family camping, hiking, and cross country skiing. Bob was a lifelong runner and later a regular walker in the neighborhood. He loved to hunt and fish, activities he enjoyed with his son and his friends all his life. He and Evalyn loved to travel and explore new places from Europe and Mexico to the many road trips they took throughout the USA and Eastern Canada.
He is survived by his loving wife Evalyn, his son Grant (Naoko) Orr, daughter Shawna (Charlie) Albornoz and his grandchildren Carmela, Matias, and Tristan; his brothers Daniel (Linda) and Chuck (Ruth), sister in law Dorothy (Jack) Orr and other extended family. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the care staff on the 4th floor at George Boyack care centre for their wonderful and thoughtful care of Bob during his time there.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at Faith Calgary Church (1903 19th Avenue NW, Calgary, Alberta) at 1:00 pm.
