Obituary for Ray Allen Forsyth

Ray Allen Forsyth

It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of Ray, a wonderful loving husband, father, and grandpa.

Ray was born in Brownlee, Saskatchewan and he went to school in Moose Jaw before moving to Calgary.

Ray is survived by his beloved wife, Rowena of 57 years; his three children, Vicki, Rhonda (Dave) and Cory (Ann-Marie); four grandchildren, Donald, Sean, Nathaniel, and Lindsay, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Harvey and Annie; brothers, Neil, Don, Gerald and Ed and sister, Olive.

He will always be remembered for his amazing sense of humor, his classic one-liners, and never-ending smile. His many passions were, curling, baseball, card games, golfing, and his unique woodworking skills of birdhouses, lot signs and name benches. He loved working in his garage and had every tool known to man.

Ray and Rowena were fortunate enough to travel many places, one of his favorites was walking the beach in Mazatlan. After he retired, they spent their summers at Hidden Valley Golf Resort where he was the golf Marshall and knew everyone and their dogs. They spent their winters in Mesa, AZ with close friends.

A special thank you to the excellent staff at McKenzie Towne Care Center for their care, kindness and understanding.

A Celebration of Ray’s Life for family and friends will be held at a later date.

If desired, a donation may be made in Ray’s memory to Alzheimer’s Society of Calgary, #800, 7015 Macleod Trail SW, Calgary, AB, T2H 2K6
