Obituary for Quentin Dale Olson

Olson, Quentin Dale

Dale Olson, beloved husband of Colleen Crosweller, of Calgary Alberta, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 25, 2020 at the age of 74. Dale was the eldest son of Earl and Helen Olson. He is survived by his wife, Colleen; daughter, Gabriela Hawes; three grandchildren, Tabitha, Kira and Austin Hawes; brothers, Rich and Greg, and sister, Nancy.

Dale was born on August 14, 1945 in Washington, D.C. He spent his early years in the Chicago area and gained a passion for theatre lighting and sound. He then worked for the Calgary Stampede Grandstand Show, and later, was offered a full-time position at the Banff School of Fine Arts which prompted him to move to Canada. As a member of the IATSE labour union, he was proud to represent the technicians, artisans and craft persons working in Alberta. He joined Mount Royal College’s Conservatory staff as a theatre technical coordinator, where he retired.

Dale lived happily surrounded by family and friends. When he was not working, Dale enjoyed building and collecting model trains and was a member of the Calgary Amateur Radio Association. He was a loving father and grandfather whose support will be missed. He lived a life of happiness and adventure, and we have many wonderful memories of sharing laughter with him, especially over some scotch. He was a quiet man at times, but he showed his affection in many ways.

We celebrate his life and are left with many fond memories. To view and share photos, condolences and memories of Dale, please visit www.choicememorial.com.
