Obituary for Patrick David Deranger

Deranger, Patrick David

Patrick David Deranger was born in Goldfields, Saskatchewan on November 2, 1951 and passed away in Calgary, Alberta on Monday, April 13, 2020. His happiest days were spent with his father on the trapline, N22, in northern Saskatchewan. He originally came to Calgary in 1971 and again in 1976 where he ultimately settled.

He worked at Gulf Canada for 14 years, but never forgot his roots and the traditions of the Dene people, as the pipe carrier for the family, and was comfortable speaking in his mother language, Denesuline. Patrick loved sharing stories and his knowledge with others and even though he had retired earlier in life, he continued to be an active member in his community, educating others.

Patrick will be missed and lovingly remembered by his daughter, Lindsay Richardson-Deranger and his brothers and sisters, Liz (Frank Goodwin), Dora Flett (Adam), Peter, Fred (Hazel), Annie (John Mercredi), Mary (Ron MacNeill), Jimmy (Ernestine), Ron, Rose, Roger and Angelina (Alan). He is predeceased by his parents, Therese and Isidore Deranger, and by his siblings, Adeline, Alfred, Donald, Billy, Christopher, Rossi and Max.

Due to current restrictions on social gatherings, a Celebration of Patrick’s Life will be announced at a later date when it is safe to do so. For those who wish to make a donation in Patrick’s memory, please donate to a charity of your choice.
