Obituary for Patricia Anne Garner

Patricia Garner
October 7th, 1938 - Thursday, July 9th, 2020

Mrs. Patricia Garner of Okotoks passed away at Tudor Manor on Friday, July 9, 2020 at the age of 81 years.

Born in Edmonton, raised in Milk River, and then Calgary, AB, Pat was a feisty, independent woman who found joy in life’s subtle details, and delighted those around her by sharing her wonderful sense of humour.

Pat was relationship-driven, and worked as a payroll clerk for the Canadian Pacific (CP) Railway in Calgary for most of her professional career. She cultivated several life-long friendships there, and also met her late husband, Fred. They were married in a romantic ceremony on the island of Kauai in 1982. Together with her husband and family, Pat discovered a love of the Hawaiian Islands, travelling there many times—often as a doting surprise birthday or Christmas gift from Fred.

Those who knew Pat will remember her fierce love and respect for family, friends, and animals (especially pets), and of course, her fondness for a Lamb’s Navy Rum and Coke.

Pat is survived by her daughter Lori (Trevor), her two grandsons Josh and Kevan, and other relatives and close friends. The family thanks the staff at Tudor Manor (The Brenda Strafford Foundation) for their many years of excellent care and support.

At Pat’s request, and due to COVID-19, there will be no formal memorial service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to The Alzheimer Society of Canada for advancing the search for the cause and cure are appreciated.
