Obituary for Patricia Lynne Buist (Storey)

1954 -2021
It is great sadness that we must announce the passing of Patricia Lynne Buist. Lynne passed away suddenly at her home on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at the age of 66. She is survived by her mother, Yvonne Storey; sister, Lorraine Storey; brother-in-law, Allan Mayder and husband, (separated) Herb Buist. She is predeceased by her father, Barrie Storey.
Lynne was born in Davidson, Saskatchewan. When she was a teenager, the family moved to Calgary. She attended Lord Beaverbrook High School and University of Calgary. She received her Bachelor of Education in 1976 and an Honours Diploma in Library and Information Technology from Southern Alberta Institute of Technology in 1990. In 2002 she completed a Certificate in Adult Learning (CAL) from University of Calgary, Faculty of Continuing Education.
Lynne taught elementary school for the Calgary Board of Education for several years. She also worked for a number of organizations, including Alliance Pipeline, Bow Valley College, Novitex Enterprise Solutions (formerly Pitney Bowes Management Services) at Imperial Oil in Calgary.
After retirement, Lynne was an active volunteer in senior’s residences, English tutor/instructor for immigrants and learning-disabled adults at a variety of organizations.
She enjoyed good food, a glass of wine, walking, travelling, movie-going and social events with a variety of meet-up groups in the city.
