Obituary for Norma Rosalie Gower

Norma Rosalie Gower
June 28,1943 - June 11,2020

The family of Norma Gower are saddened by the passing of our mother/Nana/Great Nana on June 11, 2020 at 8:10 pm. She passed away peacefully in hospital after visiting with her youngest daughter earlier that day.
Norma is survived by her older sister, Carol Tosh (Wayne) and family of MB; children, Douglas Bryan (Mara) of Auckland, New Zealand, Kenneth Bryan (Tara) of Yellowknife, NWT, Kelvin Bryan (Lisa) of Calgary, AB, Kimberly Bryan (Andy) of Victoria BC and Francine Bigsnake of Standoff AB. She loved her seven grandchildren, Ashley & Hailey, Amy & Tyson Quentin, Vincent & Melissa, as well as three great grandchildren, Jayson, Xander & Dexter.

For the 20 or so years, Norma lived in Oliver, BC she devoted her life to working in the family orchard, as well as cooking at the Oliver hospital kitchen, she was a dedicated caregiver for the handicapped at Beaver Lodge as well as several group homes in town. She also fostered many young children in her home. Norma spent her remaining years in Calgary again working as a caregiver in more than one of Linda Gariepy’s group homes and then finished off her career as Graduated Support caregiver till she retired.

Memorial Service will be held at Choice Memorial (105-4715 13th Street NE) on Thursday, June 25, 2020 at 4:00 pm. Due to Covid 19 Social Distancing Regulations, there is a maximum number of attendees allowed at the service. Please use the RSVP link in the Service Details below to register for the Service.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations made in Norma’s memory to the front line workers at the Foothills Hospital (Ward 61) or to The Heart and Stroke Foundation.
