Obituary for Muriel Corinne Seddon (Delf)

Muriel Corinne Seddon (nee Delf)
November 27, 1929 – May 3, 2023

With sadness, we announce that Muriel Seddon, beloved wife of Gordon, passed away at Calgary on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at the age of 93 years.

Muriel was the loving mother of Judy (Gerald) of Edmonton, Randall (Kate) and Robert (Mary) of Calgary. She will also be lovingly remembered by her grandson, Luke; granddaughter, Karla (Nigel); and great granddaughters, Isla and Nora; brother Gordon and many other family members. She was predeceased by her husband, Gordon (2018); daughter, Judy (2021); sister, Marjorie; and brothers, Ernie and Ken.

Muriel was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba and lived there and in the Treherne area on her father’s farm. She trained and qualified as a Registered Nurse in Winnipeg. In 1955, she married Gordon in Winnipeg and his job with CP Rail had them travelling across Canada.

Her first child, Judy, was born in Kelowna BC, the second, Randall, was born in Burnaby BC, returning to Winnipeg, the third addition to the family arrived, Robert.

The family next moved to Montreal, where Muriel enjoyed all the family that came to visit for EXPO 67 and always remembered fondly the time spent there with her many friends. The seventies had the Seddon family moving back west to Edmonton, Alberta, where Muriel continued her nursing career, including a foray into Insurance Medicals.

After retirement, Muriel and Gordon spent many years away from Alberta winters enjoying themselves in Cathedral City California. Muriel was a many time shuffleboard champion at their resort and her card game skills stayed sharp.

Once their house was getting too big to manage, they bought a condominium in south Edmonton where they made many friends. With Gordon passing away and Judy in poor health, her sons moved Muriel to Calgary in 2020 where she lived happily until her passing. She will be remembered for her smile and wit as well as for some, her guitar playing and yodeling.

As per Muriel's wishes, there was no Service, just a simple cremation.

For those who wish to remember Muriel through a donation, please choose a charity of one’s choice. If unsure, close to Muriel’s heart were pet rescue groups, especially those focused on cats, which she loved; the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation; and the Canadian Cancer Society would also be appropriate.
