Jassman, Melvin Stanley
November 17, 1939 – November 18, 2019

It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Melvin Jassman, age 80 following a battle with brain cancer. Melvin is lovingly remembered by his wife Arla of 55 years; son Brian (Judy); daughter Nela (Keith); grandson Laine Hiebert; granddaughter Brittney Jassman; brothers Marvin (Lousie) and Dennis; brother-in-law Arnie (Anne) Sollberger; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Mel was born on the family farm near Mendham, SK to parents Elsie and Ted Jassman. He moved with his family to Three Hills, AB where he attended the public school and was involved in many sports. Mel married Arla Sollberger July 11, 1964, residing in Mayland Heights for 35 years. He worked for Arpis Industries for 30 years, teaching many young people the plumbing trade.

Mel and Arla enjoyed many years camping with family in the Sundre area. His last few years were spent being part of the Rosewood Resort family near Sundre.

Mel was an active member of Centre Street Church where he was an usher for over 50 years. He was also a part of the Maranatha Group.

Memorial Service will be held in the chapel at Centre Street Church (3900-2nd Street NE) on Friday, November 22, 2019 at 1:00 pm (please park in the West lot). In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made to Samaritan’s Purse (www.samaritanspurse.ca) or to a charity of your choice.
