Obituary for Maxwell James Mayling

Maxwell James Mayling
October 28, 1972 - April 8, 2023

The family of Maxwell (James) Mayling is profoundly saddened to announce the sudden passing of the beloved husband of Charmaine and father of Tyson and Jonathan Mayling of Calgary on Saturday, April 8, 2023, at the age of 50. James leaves behind his mother, Maureen Mayling; his sister, Theresa (Martin) O’Connor; nephew, Collin (Jessica) O’Conner and their children, Joyce, Finnegan, and Rosemary; niece, Victoria Reilly O’Conner and her daughter, Emma, all of Ontario. James also leaves behind his mother and father in-law, Winston and Carmen Khan; sister-in law, Yvette (Trevor) Kain; nephews, Kieran and Cameran, all of Calgary; sister-in law, Laurena Khan; nephew, Therron; and niece, Laila of Ontario. James was predeceased by his father, Maxwell James Mayling (2003).

James moved to Calgary from Ontario in 1994, soon after met his wife, Charmaine and were married in 1996. Many years later they were blessed with their sons, Tyson and Jonny. James (otherwise known as Max or Mayling – depending on how you knew him) served the CAF for many years and was last with the Princess Patricia Canadian Light Infantry in Tow Platoon. He was awarded the NATO Medal for Service on Operations in relation to the Former Yugoslavia. In his early years, James attended Carleton University (Ontario). As a Veteran James attended SAIT (Calgary) where he became a Software Program Developer/Analyst. Max was highly respected by his peers. James had a fantastic sense of humor, a love for books and reading, and mostly enjoyed spending his time on a “walk-about” in the mountains.

James was loved and will be dearly missed by too many people to mention.
Man Down. May he rest in peace.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in James’ memory to a GoFundMe, and you can find that link here GoFundMe for Maxwell James Mayling Memorial Fund, to help with the immediate and future expenses of raising his minor sons and a trust fund will be set up at a later date.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, April 21, 2023 at 11:00 am at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (LDS Chapel in Royal Oak at 81 Royal Elm Drive NW, Calgary, AB T3G 5P7).
