Obituary for Mary Ellen Boone
MARY ELLEN BOONE
January 2, 1939 – December 11, 2022
Mary Ellen was the daughter of the late Helen and Rev. Frank Gilbert. She had a great and loving brother Ralph. She graduated in Nursing at the Women’s College Hospital in Toronto and subsequently worked in Toronto, Winnipeg, and Calgary. Her postings included the Foothills Medical Centre and Bethany Calgary.
Mary Ellen enjoyed nursing, curling, skiing, cooking, sewing, quilting, travelling and being a great hostess; always paying attention to detail. Mary Ellen even had two Hole-In-Ones while golfing at Cottonwood Golf & Country Club. Mary Ellen suffered from a series of medical difficulties over the last 8 years which finally came to an end for her. She passed away at the AgeCare Glenmore after a serious stroke.
She leaves Graham, her husband for 57 years; her daughter, Laurie; granddaughters, Alison and Elizabeth; as well as her son, Craig and her special friend, Michael Phillips. She leaves all her friends from Bridge, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, and those from her personal life. Mary Ellen received a lot of assistance from the AHS staff at various centres. Our heartfelt thanks go out to all those staff members who worked with her so patiently and with so much kindness. Mary Ellen also received assistance from the Integrated Home Care Plan and the personal help of Izabela Kuczynski.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mary Ellen’s memory to Heart and Stroke Foundation.
