Mary Ann Derwent
June 10th, 1936 - Saturday, November 16th, 2019

Ann passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 16, 2019. Although it is sad to announce her passing, she is finally at peace from the last few years of struggles with dementia.

Ann was predeceased by her husband David and son Terry. She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by her son Brad (Denise); daughter Darilyn (Walter); grandchildren Jeff (Aly), Jake, and Olivia; and great granddaughter Jordyn.

Ann lived life unselfishly with no-nonsense determination and strength. She was a native Calgarian with her roots in Calgary’s NW. She made friends easily, loved conversation, and welcomed a good time. She was always there with her wisdom, lending ear, outspoken words, and kind heart. Ann was a friend and a “Mom” to all.

Thank you to Dr. Louw and all of the care staff at Sage Hill for your compassion and care over the last 3 years. If so desired, memorial tributes can be made to Alzheimer Society of Canada or Canadian Cancer Society.

"Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us everyday. Unseen, unheard, but always near, so loved, so missed, so very dear."

My condolences on the loss of your beautiful Mom Ann. She was the highlight of my day as the more I
got to know her during her daily sojourns through the halls here at our Condo bldg. She has been missed
these last few years but is now at peace.

I worked with Ann at Buchanan Barry and have many fond memories of our time working there together. I needed a password and couldn’t think of one so Ann actually gave me a password that I still use variations of today. My deepest sympathy to all her family.

My heartfelt condolences to Darilyn, Brad and family. Ann has a special place in my heart, I loved her very much and always thought of her as my second mom. She had a way of making you feel comfortable and part of the family. It was a joy to be in her company, sharing many laughs, stories and good conversations and debates. Thanks to her great recipe for broccoli casserole I now have to make it at every thanksgiving and xmas dinner (if I don't my family won't forgive me) and her beef bourguignon recipe is always a favorite.
She was a special lady who will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered. xoxo

My sincere condolences to the family. I had a pleasure of working side by side with this wonderful woman at Sproule.
I cherished our working relationship, friendship and your Mother figure we had for many years.
These memories with you and Ann Zoumer will be in my heart forever. May you rest in peace my dear Ann.
