Obituary for Mark Arthur Jelskey

Mark Arthur Jelskey
September 29, 1959- July 4, 2022

Mark Jelskey was born outside Chicago in Hinsdale, Illinois. He grew up attending Catholic school in Bettendorf, Iowa, and he had an adventurous spirit from a young age. As the eldest of his three siblings, he often took over many responsibilities and helped out around the home. His solid family bonds were maintained throughout his life. When his parents moved from Iowa to Calgary, Alberta he developed a strong passion for muscle cars that he carried with him throughout his lifetime. While in junior high school he stood out as an exceptional athlete playing many sports and was considered for many years the fastest runner in school. Mark developed strong friendships while growing up in Calgary, many of which have lasted a lifetime.
Mark enjoyed many hobbies such as car shows, spending time with family and friends, going on road trips, watching action movies, tinkering with computers, and having fun. He also took satisfaction in working hard, and for many years he was considered an ideal employee. He was a proud father and often took his son out for movies, to car shows, on road trips, and to visit family and friends, among other enjoyable activities. He dearly valued his relationships and put much time and effort into developing close connections and love.

He is survived by his uncle’s wife, Gale Vanater; son, Skipton Jelskey; and brother, Ronald Jelskey Jr. Mark is predeceased by his parents, Gloria Jelskey and Ronald Jelskey; uncle, Galen Jelskey; partner, Louise Laliberte; sister, Karen Jelskey; and brother, Jeffrey Jelskey.
